As
an Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and, specifically, as
the principal United Nations office mandated to promote and protect human
rights for all who are burned, the I..B.S.O.
(International Burn Support Organization) and the Office of the
Commissioner for Burns lead global human rights efforts for the
protection and promotion of the rights and dignity of those with
burn injuries.
Speaking out objectively in the
face of human rights worldwide, we
provide a forum for identifying, highlighting and developing
responses to today’s human rights challenges.

As such, the
Office of the Commissioner for Burns and the I.B.S.O.acts as the
principal focal point for the rights of burn survivors in
addition to research, education, public information, and
advocacy activities within the United Nations System.
