Active Participation at and for the UN:
The United States Burn Support Organization (U.S.B.S.O.) work at the United Nations in the General Framework of Non-Governmental Representatives.

It is widely recognized that NGO's provides such a unique presence to the United Nations System. Because without their strong voice, many issues that effects the world as a whole would be untold and not cared about.

The presence of the NGO's at the Ad-Hoc Committee showed the UN and it's Dignitaries the world must learn to include all its citizens as people, and to treat them with the respect they deserve and instilled too.

Many NGO's where from areas of life that is not often heard of, like Bangladesh India, Poorer cities of Africa Nations and so forth.

The U.S.B.S.O. was contacted by the United Nations to provide a insight into the Burn Community, but on an 'international approach". It's Chief Executive Officer concurred and started planning on the multiple ways the "International Convention on Persons with Disabilities" could work towards persons with Burns. During this process the CEO was again contacted and asked if the US Burn Support Organization had an official opinion and would they want it to be added to the convention.

The focus at the time for the U.S.B.S.O. Was to provide a service to the many people who have sustain burn related injuries and mainly so in the United States of America. Concluding that all citizens of the world who have sustain burn related injuries should benefit from the services of the United States Burn Support Organization. So after aiding in drafting of the Disability Convention, the CEO- in conjunction with the Executive Board decided to create the 'International Burn Community Liaison Body' to the United Nations. So people with burns world wide would be able to received the necessary appropriate care of their burn wounds. In addition, to providing services, this deals with the prevention issue of Burn and Fires. Without these two very important combinations, burns would continue to happen and effect love ones everywhere.

The other factor for the US Burn Support Organization involvement was so people can learn to relate to those who have suffered burn related injuries. In addition, learn how to treat them with the respect and dignity for which they deserve as human beings. Moreover, there was lack of information containing to the treatment of burns, the emotional outlooks, the physical outlooks ergo scarring and other related sources.

The United States Burn Support Organization, have carefully contacted all member states of the United Nations system to get a better view of accordance of burn related injuries and deaths as a result of the burn injury or injuries.

While the official process of contacting state members of the UN have been difficult at times. We are truly happy to report the more influx of information gathering from countries that would not recognize the US Burn Support Organization, an NGO as a player in the international workings of the United Nations.

As of May 25th 2007, 95 Countries have signed the Convention on Persons with Disabilities.
